Ok Ohio take a step back and look at the fabulous ceramics made in the Golden state! What a wealth of fabulous pottery manufacturers in California over the last 75 years. Who knew?
This set of five dishes is marked "Earl China Hoenig of California" and is a unique but very useful shape. I believe they originally went with a tureen shaped like a pumpkin/squash but are a bit long and shallow for soup.. they are WAY better suited for an individual serving of delicious seafood casserole, seaweed salad, assorted appetizer selections, or toppings for building one's own oven roasted pizza.
A lovely shade of sage green with soft white inside finish these measure 8 1/2" long, 4 1/2" wide and 1" deep. All are in excellent condition with no chips or grazing, however one does have some black smudge marks (see photo).
